Representing a true marriage of aesthetics and functionality, this plush home was designed to serve as the perfect retreat – a space that welcomes and soothes, and yet stimulates and evokes interest. Nehaa conceptualized a different look for every room while simultaneously tying together all the elements to create a cohesive mood throughout the home. Besides maintaining a predominantly neutral color scheme across all rooms, she also added elements of interest in every corner, to give each space its own unique personality.
The living room displays an intriguing balance of gold accents and muted-toned furnishings, set against a dramatic blue wall with trims. Decorative elements like the lantern, photo frame and the flower vase accentuate the earthy color scheme, while adding character.
The living room opens up to a spacious dining area and kitchen, both elegantly cloaked in warm neutrals . Making efficient use of the space available, a swanky bar counter, ideal for house parties, is tucked in the corner of the dining room. A carefully crafted wooden ceiling panel highlights the dining area and adds another dimsension to the design.
Soothing beige and white tones invoke serenity in the bedrooms. The master bedroom has cheery tones seen in the red and orange throw pillows, a vivid patterned rug and a large sunburst mirror. Wooden furnishings like the bookshelf, TV unit and wardrobe mingle well with the designer’s intention of adding ethnic elements.
The white cerused walls in the guest bedroom are complemented with purple accents on the wardrobe, curtain and accent chair. Purely Scandinavian, this space reflects the preference of prospective occupants- elegant, homely and highly functional. A large mirror placed near the bed reflects light and opens up the space.
The kid’s bedroom, thoughtfully designed with a gender-neutral scheme, has joyful orange and green tones with a denim colored bunk bed. Armed with ample storage for everything from books and clothes to toys, the practical furnishings were chosen to suit the needs of growing adolescents.
“Apart from creating an elegant home, the idea was to also make it both functional and comfortable. We’ve tried and made every corner practical without compromising on the aesthetics.”
